S4 Prelim Examinations
In order to help prepare pupils for the SQA Exam diet starting in April 2022 we have arranged a prelim diet of examinations. The prelim examinations will enable pupils to experience an exact replica (or close to) of the exam they will sit in the main SQA diet and will also give another opportunity for staff to gather evidence to indicate the progress pupils are making.
National 5 Prelims will begin on 17th December and 5 subjects are scheduled before the Christmas holidays with the remainder of the subjects timetabled for week beginning Monday 10th January until Friday 21st January.
We have agreed with the Education Department that pupils who are sitting one or more National 5 exam in S4 will be on study leave for one week of the assessments. This is Monday 10th January until and including Friday 14th January. Pupils will follow their normal timetable outwith this week and will be extracted from class to sit any exams they have scheduled either in the days before Christmas or in the week beginning 17th January. This is to limit the amount of teaching time lost during study leave.
Any pupil who does not have 1 or more National 5 exams will be expected to follow their timetable throughout the whole of this assessment period as their learning will continue.
Pupils who are entitled to Alternative Assessment Arrangement (Assessment arrangements allow candidates who are disabled, and/or have been identified as having additional support needs, access to appropriate arrangements to complete the assessment without compromising its integrity using the supports they normally use in class) should have discussed this with their class teacher to check for eligibility and will have received a form for their parent/ carer to sign to confirm any arrangement put in place. If you feel that you should have an assessment arrangement put in place and have not received any details, please speak to your Class Teacher to discuss.
If you have any further questions, please contact your Guidance Teacher.
