S5/6 Prelim Examinations
In order to help prepare pupils for the SQA Exam diet starting in April 2022 we have arranged a prelim diet of examinations. The prelim examinations will enable pupils to experience an exact replica (or close to) of the exam they will sit in the main SQA diet and will also give another opportunity for staff to gather evidence to indicate the progress pupils are making.
N5 Prelims will begin on 17th December and 5 subjects are scheduled before the Christmas holidays with the remainder of the subjects timetabled for week beginning Monday 10th January until Friday 21st January. Pupils will attend their exam at the time indicated on the reverse of this letter. Rooms will be confirmed nearer the time.
Higher and Advanced Higher exams are scheduled week beginning Monday 24th January until Friday 4th February. We have agreed with the Education Department that pupils who are sitting one or more Higher or Advanced Higher exam in S5/6 will be on study leave for one week of the assessments. This is Monday 24thth January until and including Friday 28th January. Pupils will follow their normal timetable outwith this week and will be extracted from class to sit any N5 exams they have scheduled either in the days before Christmas, in the week beginning 10th January until 21st January or Higher/ Advanced Higher exams in week beginning 31st January. This is to limit the amount of teaching time lost during study leave. Any S5/6 pupil who is sitting National 5 exams but no Higher or Advanced Higher exams should speak to their Guidance Teacher to discuss what would be best for them.
Pupils who are entitled to Alternative Assessment Arrangement (Assessment arrangements allow candidates who are disabled, and/or have been identified as having additional support needs, access to appropriate arrangements to complete the assessment without compromising its integrity using the supports they normally use in class) should have discussed this with their class teacher to check for eligibility and will have received a form for their parent/ carer to sign to confirm any arrangement put in place. If you feel that you should have an assessment arrangement put in place and have not received any details, please speak your Class Teacher to discuss.
If you have any further questions please speak your Guidance Teacher.
