Covid positive Case - 7th November

Dear Parent / Carer

A single case of confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus) has been reported in a person who attends Grove Academy in S6.

The close contacts of this person have been identified by the Health Protection Team (HPT) at NHS Tayside and must now enter isolation. This is a precaution. This isolation is from the date of last contact Wednesday 04 November 2020 for 14 days, until Wednesday 18th November 2020. Therefore, these close contacts can return to normal activity on Thursday 19th November 2020.

You will already have been notified if your child is a close contact. This letter is for the wider community to keep you informed. Please be reassured that if you have not been contacted individually, your child has not been identified as a contact of the case, and they can continue to attend school and undertake other activities as normal.

I recognise that this information may be concerning to you. Please be assured that Grove Academy remains open. The school is working in partnership with NHS Tayside, Public Health Scotland, and Dundee City Council Children and Families Service. If you would like to speak to someone or if you have any questions, please contact the Health Protection Team by calling 01382 596 976 /987.

We would encourage everyone to continue to follow the latest NHS and Scottish Government advice on helping reduce the spread of coronavirus: ‘FACTS’

  • Face coverings in enclosed spaces
  • Avoid crowded places
  • Clean your hands and surfaces regularly
  • Two metre social distancing
  • Self isolate and book a test if you develop symptoms

There are additional things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • Put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness. If your child has or develops any symptoms, the whole household should self isolate. Please arrange for a test for the symptomatic person/people by calling 0800 028 2816 or visiting www.NHSinform.scot/test-and-protect. Children/young people displaying symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend school.

Yours sincerely
