Eco-Schools Green Flag Award
We are delighted to announce that Grove Academy has achieved our 4th Eco-Schools Green Flag.
The Eco-Schools Green Flag is an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning. Grove's 4th Green Flag is a testimony to the way pupils at Grove have raised awareness of environmental issues and got practically involved in improving their school, local and global environment.
The school has also been awarded ‘Best School Grounds’ in Dundee for the 3rd year running. This is a reflection on not just the work done in the immediate grounds, green house and orchard but also our work in the local community through the community gardens and outreach work with a sheltered housing complex. Pupils developing a wildflower app, supported by the lunchtime art group all help to make a difference.
The work done in departments in raising awareness of climate change, Fairtrade, global warming and running stem projects is all part of attaining the Green Flag. The HE Department raises awareness of food miles and the importance of sustainable food sources. Knowing where your food and clothes come from and how we need to protect our environment, is part of working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which are at the centre of the Eco School Program.
