Gardening Scotland 2017
Natanya Lim (S4) brought her award winning pocket garden design to life at the Gardening Scotland Festival in Edinburgh this weekend, a competition run by Keep Scotland Beautiful. Natanya's design was chosen out of over 300 hundred entries. “This dome shape design is inspired by the Northern hemisphere and reflects our place on the planet. It re-uses materials to appear like a bee hive and features wild and native plant species.’"
The judges were impressed with the creativity and out of the box thinking and were looking forward to seeing the completed product. Helped by our lovely mentor Alison Tough, the eco group spent many lunchtimes creating the structure using cups donated by Costa Coffee. They also grew many of the plants from seed in the Grove greenhouse. Additional plants were donated by Dobbies and the Broughty in Bloom group.
Natanya, Poppy Soutar (S4) and Rachel Talbot (S5) went to the showground on Wednesday 31st May to make up the design. It looked great and was already attracting bees by the time they left!
This is the second year in a row that Natanya has created an award winning design. She shows great flair as a designer and has the determination to see her designs become a reality.
