Grove Academy War Memorials
In recent year Grove’s war memorials have been badly affected by adverse weather. Friends of Grove are working with Grove’s History department to restore and relocate these important tributes to its former pupils into the school assembly hall in a specially built display case. Supported by both The War Memorials Trust and Robertsons this venture will help preserve an important period in Grove’s long history for future generations. The cost of this conservation is around £12,000, a target we hope to meet as quickly as possible. You can make a donation at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/grovehonourtheirfallen
All donations are appreciated and will go to relocating the War Memorials to a permanent home within the school.
Further details can be found by contacting Mr Doherty or Mrs O’Rourke at Grove grove@dundeecity.gov.uk or by joining the staff and pupils at Grove on Saturday 8th September 2018 10am – 2pm where WW1 archive materials and the research carried out by pupils on the war dead will be on display. We are also trying to gather more information for those mentioned on the memorials. If you have any materials or a story to tell about a relative on the memorials please come and join us on Saturday 8th.
