Grove Sports Day 2019 Schedule
This year we are planning to make the annual sports day a whole school event, with those not participating going to Dawson Park to support their House Teams.
Due to the SQA Exams, work experience and other school commitments the date that has been identified is Friday 24 May 2019. This will mean that some of our young people will miss out but unfortunately this has been unavoidable.
It is planned that the whole school will attend and the provisional programme is as follows:
9.00am
Pupils participating in the events will go straight to Dawson Park where they will be registered by a member of staff. Those pupils not taking part will be expected to attend classes as normal Periods 1 and 2. This will be a non-uniform day.
10.50am
Following morning interval, pupils in school should attend their P3 class to be registered and then the member of staff will lead them on foot to Dawson Park.
12.00 – 12.45 - Lunch time.
Pupils will be required to bring a packed lunch. The canteen can provide their usual pre-order service for those wishing to have a cold meal and will accept orders from Monday 20 May. There will be no hot food provision that day. Pupils who forget their lunch will be able to order one before we leave. Pupils will not be allowed to leave Dawson Park to get lunch elsewhere.
There will be a small tuck shop operating throughout the morning, and we hope to be able to organise an ice cream van to come along during the lunch break should pupils wish to purchase something.
Approx. 2.30pm
All pupils will be dismissed from Dawson Park. There will be staff walking back to school to accompany pupils wishing to return.
As the weather can be unpredictable, should any of these arrangements change please could I ask you to check to the school website rather than call the office. All updates will be posted online.
It has been a while since we have organised a whole school event on this scale, and would seek pupil cooperation on the following points in order to assist school staff on the day.
- Competitors who choose to cycle to Dawson Park will be provided with secure storage for their bikes which will be locked and remain locked for the duration of the day.
- Pupils not participating in events will not be allowed to take their bikes. Pupils that cycle into school will be asked to leave them chained at school and return with staff at the end of the day to collect them.
- Pupils will not be permitted to leave Dawson Park out with the times specified above.
- No footballs.
