Modern Studies/Art and Design London Trip 2016
Pupils and staff had a fantastic and cultured experience in London over the past weekend taking in some of London’s top sights and looking at our capital through different social and aesthetic contexts.
Pupils took part in various Art and Design tours around the V&A, giving them a taste of what’s soon to be on our door step. Pupils got to see famous pieces up close at the Tate Modern such as the ‘Weeping Woman’ by Picasso and Andy Warhol ‘Marilyn’ and Roy Lichtenstein’s ‘Wham!’. They also enjoyed an engaging street art tour through Shoreditch seeing how aspects of Art and Design and Modern Studies come together to create powerful and thought provoking social statements. They saw well known street artists such as Lewis Campbell, Shepherd Fairey and even a real Bansky!
Pupils also had the opportunity to ride the Thames and see the city from the London Eye, catching glimpses of the Queen’s Parade and the Trouping of the Colour. The pupils were an absolute credit to themselves and the school and a great time was had by all. Well done!
