Presentation to the House of Commons on behalf of Anne Frank Trust Scotland
Grove Academy have worked with Anne Frank Trust (Scotland) for three years. In this time, 36 Pupils have trained as Anne Frank Guides for the exhibition Anne Frank: A History for Today, 18 two years ago and another 18 this year. The exhibition is a story of Anne in contrast to the rise of the Nazi party. S2 pupils apply for and are selected after a number of activities to take part in the training. In conjunction with the RMPE department all S1, 2 and 3 pupil are taken to the exhibition which is in the school for ten days with the S2 pupils being the guides.
After the exhibition 6 guides are chosen to receive more training as ambassadors. This is a really difficult process as the guides always grow in skills and confidence through the process. The work is funded by the National Lottery Big Fund and as this funding was coming to a close they organisers had asked the Trust to send a group to London to speak on the impact it has had. Three pupils from the original group were chosen to represent Anne Frank Trust. The Grove pupils were honoured that they were chosen for this task. Mr Dillon, Miss Russell and three pupil flew down from Dundee to the Houses of Parliament for the event.
