Ribbon of Poppies Appeal
Grove Academy Eco School Group had an autumn sowing of poppies at both its Community Gardens. A spring sowing will happen soon. However we want to develop the poppy theme, in line with Broughty in Bloom, by inviting members of the wider school community to help with knitting, crocheting or felting poppies. These poppies will be displayed on the fence at Queen St community Garden until Nov 18.
Grove Academy lost 92 past pupils during WW1. Ideally we would like there to be a poppy for each person lost.
If you would like to get involved, please just start creating. There are a number of patterns on the internet, any medium sized poppy would work. Broughty in Bloom have shared this pattern, also present on their Facebook page.
