S4 Personal Development Trip To The Community Fridge In Perth Road
On the 9th of September the S4 Personal Development group went up to the community fridge on the Perth Road to see a bit more about Dundee’s community.
The trip was very successful and we learned a lot of information about the community fridge. For example, they had a lot of bread and got daily donations from supermarkets such as Tesco the donations from the community.
The food at the fridge is free and the centre is run by volunteers. Most people don’t realise that it’s not just free food that is being given away, it is also combatting climate change. Methane gas is caused by rotting food and then gets sent up into the atmosphere. It is a greenhouse gas and is 30x more potent as a heat trapping gas than carbon dioxide. The heat energy from the sun gets trapped by the methane and bounces back to Earth and makes are planet warmer. So, it’s not just helping the community its also helping the planet.
