Shiell Street Community Garden
Sheill St Community Garden began 4 years ago when a group of S1 pupils from Grove Academy Eco Group wanted to take on a patch of uncared for land on a popular route to Broughty Ferry Local Nature Reserve and Esplanade. Funding from Grow Wild provided the tool. The ‘Green Growers’ had the enthusiasm. A number of the original group are still active. New ones have joined. The garden is developing as a place where wildflowers and pollinators have a chance to grow attracting wildlife and appreciation from passers-by. Recent funding from Dundee City Council's local regeneration fund will launch a new creative phase with a bench and an art installation and bug hotel that reflects our maritime past and proximity to the water.
