Well Done to Abbie MacLean, Jamie Gibson, Taylor McGrath, Andrew Merry, Fraser Nicholson, Dylan Petrie, Aidan Raffle, Alexandra Clark, for representing Grove Academy against all of the other Dundee schools. They took part in a variety of mathematical contests throughout the day.

Grove Academy ‘Red Team’ came in 2nd in the team contest!!
Grove Academy ‘Blue Team’ came in 1st in the team contest, 2nd in the speed round and 3rd in the relay!!

Congratulations to Grove Academy ‘Blue Team’ who came in 2nd overall. (Fraser, Aidan, Jamie and Andrew)

Due to the success of the ‘Blue Team’, they have now been entered into the Scottish Final Enterprising Mathematics Competition in November!! (Date and venue tbc.)

Congratulations to Fraser Nicholson, Aidan Raffle, Jamie Gibson and Andrew Merry.

They got through the regional rounds in June and were entered into the above Final.

On the 19th November 2013, they came in 21^st place out of the 56 scottish schools who competed.

They also beat all other public Dundee and Angus schools!

It had been many years since we had qualified for this competition.

The Final was held at the Glasgow Science Centre, which they had the opportunity to explore on the day.

We are very proud that the pupils had this opportunity to represent the school.

From 11th to 17th September, all Grove Academy S2 pupils took part in Maths Week Scotland, a brand new initiative to help to experience the benefits, joy and beauty of maths in exciting new ways.

Pupils had a variety of different group activities over the week with points being allocated for their answers. Great fun was had and there are requests to do it again!

Mr Hutton and Ms Treece presented the winning teams with their prizes at an assembly on Friday, with all S2 pupils receiving a pen for taking part.
