Information for Learning from 11th January.

On 11th January school will only be open to provide childcare for children of key workers in S1-4 only as well as vulnerable pupils. The school has contacted pupils previously identified as vulnerable. Those parents of pupils in S1-4 who regard their employment to have changed from the summer to now have key worker status should contact the school to discuss a place for their children. On arrival at the school pupils should enter via the main front entrance only.

Remote learning for all other pupils will commence from Monday 11th January.  Laptops have been distributed to a number of pupils who may have had difficulties accessing work remotely.  We have been informed that we will receive another batch of this during the week commencing 11th January.  If your child is likely to experience problems accessing work online as a result of a lack of hardware then please contact the Guidance Teacher for your child

In almost all subjects work for pupils will be located on Microsoft Teams.  There are some subjects which use other platforms such as Google Classroom as they are more appropriate for subject specific content. Pupils in these subjects are already aware of this. Information on work may also be available on Show My Homework  subject specific.  Pupils will already have been added to the relevant Team by their teachers and pupils just need to log in to the relevant Team with their Glow accounts. In addition, relevant Teams can also be accessed via the Glow portal all pupils have access to

Online work can also be accessed via the Grove Academy Home Learning Portal. This can be accessed via the school website or the following link https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/dd/grovehomelearning/ Additional information such as guides to using Teams, links for technical support and login issues can be found on the portal. If your child is experiencing difficulties, then please contact the relevant guidance teacher.

Remote work can take many forms and may include the following: live lessons, recorded lessons, recorded activities, activities and tasks to complete. Teachers will be available online to support pupils during their existing timetabled class time.  Pupils can follow their existing timetable to structure their learning experience during the period for remote learning.  There may be occasions when some staff may not be available due to illness or if they are required to support the hub for keyworker families or vulnerable pupils.  For almost all subjects, pupils are advised to log in to the relevant Team (or alternative if appropriate) at their current timetabled time.

There may be a number of reasons why an individual pupil may not be able to join at a specific time.  There is the option for pupils to complete work at a time appropriate to their individual circumstances as, apart from live lessons work would remain on Teams out with class time.   There may also be links to other online options to support pupil learning.  Pupils who take courses delivered by Dundee & Angus College will resume learning on Monday 18th January.  Pupils can access work via the links provided to pupils individually by college staff.
